Technical Insight & Common Failure Symptoms
The Printed Circuit Board forms part of the boiler's electronic control system. A suspected PCB fault requires correct diagnosis, as similar symptoms can result from other electrical components, wiring or controls.
Possible symptoms that may require investigation of the PCB or associated electrical system include:
-
Boiler failing to start or operate correctly
-
Intermittent boiler operation
-
Boiler failing to respond to demand
-
Unexpected shutdowns or lockouts
-
Electrical or control-related faults
These symptoms do not necessarily confirm a faulty PCB. The associated electrical components, wiring and connections should be correctly tested before the PCB is replaced.
Safety Advice
Boiler PCBs and other electrical control components should only be diagnosed, removed or installed by a suitably qualified and competent heating engineer.
Always isolate the electrical supply before carrying out any work and follow the manufacturer's installation and servicing instructions. Where work is carried out on a gas appliance, the appropriate safety and operational checks must be completed before the boiler is returned to service.
