Technical Insight & Common Failure Symptoms
The timeswitch is a mechanical, 24-hour heating programmer that allows users to select timed heating periods using an analogue clock dial.
The timeSWITCH 150 design incorporates adjustable timer segments and an operating mode selector for controlling heating operation.
Possible symptoms that may require investigation of the timeswitch or associated controls include:
-
Timer clock failing to operate correctly
-
Heating not switching on at programmed times
-
Heating remaining on or off unexpectedly
-
Timer dial failing to advance correctly
-
Intermittent response to programmed settings
-
Operating mode selector not functioning as expected
These symptoms do not necessarily confirm a faulty timeswitch, as similar issues can result from incorrect timer settings, electrical connections or other heating control components. Correct diagnosis should be carried out before replacement.
Safety Advice
Boiler timeswitches and electrical control components should only be removed, installed or repaired by a suitably qualified and competent heating engineer or electrical professional.
Always isolate the appliance's electrical supply before installation or removal and follow the manufacturer's instructions. All required electrical and operational safety checks must be completed before the appliance is returned to service.
